Kayluh Derzy:
Was born in Southern California, where at age 2 she began training in ballet, hip-hop, and lyrical (along with many other forms). In addition to the grueling and strict practices dance school entail; she acted regularly with local theatres and sang solo/with competitive choral groups. With over 17 year’s dance, 10 year’s theatre, and 8 year’s competitive gymnastics experience respectively, she is no stranger to activities where the body produces the performance. Kayluh is also a certified 2nd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondoe under the ATA. In 2005 she took up figure-skating, “just for fun” but ended up dedicating many, many hours to the sport and advanced up to high competitive levels. Kayluh continues to train full time at Polar Ice Gilbert and Alltel Ice Den where she competes under the Coyotes Skating Club of Arizona. She is currently working to receive her Gold’s in Moves in the Field and Freestyle. Kayluh strives to build confidence and strong work ethics in children, adolescents, and adults through figure skating. While fostering the discipline and courage it takes to perform such a demanding—but rewarding—sport, it beings to transfer over to the child’s various other activities outside of the rink. Kayluh knows that when a child believes strongly in themselves and works hard—they are capable of succeeding in anything.
